Artist's home on an acre of land in East Mountains, close to restaurants, grocery store, and on the scenic route to Santa Fe.
My late husband was an editor, so our house is lined with books. I was a potter and my friends are all artists, so our house is filled with art works. This house is unique - my husband made all the cabinet doors in the kitchen, I made tiles that are inset into the walls, which are decorated with clay pieces, paintings and prints. Everything about this house has been lovingly created and lovingly lived in.
Check yourself into the home with a door code...The whole house is yours to enjoy, including the back patio area. There are only two restrictions. First of all, I have a wonderful renter who lives in a studio apartment that was built off the living room. He has lived there for years and needs his peace and quiet. So I require that my guests respect that need. Please do not wander outside of the front courtyard or back patio areas that you see in the photos, and please keep your conversations to a normal level.
The other requirement is that there is absolutely no smoking inside the house, in the front courtyard or on the back patio. In other words, there is no smoking on the property. New Mexico has been in a serious drought for the last 20 years, and I don't want to risk any fires. Also, windows are often open, and breezes blow smoke.....
I am a hands-off host, as I live in both San Diego as well as my east mountain home. So when my house is available, it means that I'm not there. That being said, I am available by cell phone, and I have someone who lives locally and can help you with anything that might confuse you.
And finally....There's no WiFi, and while the TV runs off an antenna (basic channels only), I find that even I have to re-learn how to use it every time I'm there! Bottom line? Don't count on TV reception unless you're very good with fiddling with remotes etc. All that being said, Sandia Peak sits directly west of the house, and the top is filled with antennas, so internet access via smartphones and tablets, as well as cell phone coverage is excellent.
